A great American died yesterday.
John Sheppard PH1(AC) USN ret. died on November 21, 2016. A 1970 graduates from the Navy’s photjournalism Syracuse University program. A prolific photogrpher covering subjects from the Vietnam War to nature photography. A great loss to family and friends.

I was good friends with John Sheppard. We shared many e-mails . He was a great Photographer and dedicated to capturing
many great images. We had much in common including that we were both at one time or another stationed at the same base
I will miss John. He was a good person, sailor and a great Navy Photographer. We were stationed together at the AFCCG. We went on many photo assignments together. He took me under his wings when I was a young Photographer coming up through the ranks. I learned a lot from his vast knowledge he passed on to me. This and many more things I will always remember about John . God Bless
