Robert L. "Bob" Varney
Robert L. "Bob" Varney of Orange Park passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 21 at home. Bob was born October 13, 1943 in Dover, New Hampshire to Martha Caverly Varney and Robert Varney. He moved with his family to St. Petersburg as a child and attended local schools, graduating from Dixie Hollins High School. He then joined the Navy and retired after 20 years service as a Chief Photographer. He then retired from Physicians Sales and Service in January 2006. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Diane Clarke Varney, three daughters, Judy Lewis, her husband Chuck and their daughter Katie of Jacksonville, his daughter Janelle Fleeman and her husband Ashley and their daughters Christie and Rebecca, of Melbourne, his daughter Jennifer Richardson and her husband, Josh and their daughter Jordan of Houston. His sons, Chip Wingo and Michael Wingo of Jacksonville Beach also survive him. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Wiley and her husband Merle of St. Petersburg. Bob was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Elaine and his brother, Russell. He is also survived by his "furry" friends, Fuzzy and Buddy. Bob loved bowling and was an avid Gator's and Jaguar's fan. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Johns Presbyterian Church, Herschel & Shirley Streets, Jacksonville, with full military honors.
